FAQs

The Stay

  • Qs. How many tents are available? What is the capacity of each tent? What category are the tents?
    Ans. There will be nine Luxury Tents and four Presidential Tents. Each Luxury Tent will accommodate two guests and each Presidential Tent can accommodate up to four guests.
  • Qs. What is the minimum number of nights one can stay at the camp?
    Ans. The main package is for minimum five nights. The first two days are necessary for acclimatising to the high altitude.
  • Qs. Will the altitude in Ladakh be an issue? What are the best ways to acclimatize?
    Ans. Ladakh being at an altitude of 11,500ft, you will need time to acclimatise to the rarified atmosphere. In order to facilitate the acclimatisation and prevent High Altitude Sickness (HAS), Diomox is recommended. However we suggest you consult your physician on what medication and whether Ladakh as a destination would be suitable for you
  • Qs. Where is the camp situated in Ladakh?
    Ans. The Chamba Camp, Thiksey is situated at the base of the Thiksey Monastery. It is a half-hour drive from the Leh airport and Leh City.
  • Qs. What do the price / tariff include?
    Ans.
    1. Accommodation in double or Hollywood / twin bed tents with ensuite facilities.
    2. All meals, mineral water, juices, soft beverages.
    3. Arrival/departure transfers in Leh,
    4. Sightseeing as mentioned in the five night itinerary including entrance fees, guides, tour manager, still camera fees (not professional camera) and all activity and entertainment on site.
    5. 24 hour valet service
    6. Applicable Government service tax of 3.09% on the total package cost.
  • Qs. What is not included in the price?
    Ans.
    1. Laundry, telephone calls, gratuities, alcoholic beverages
    2. Video, film and professional still camera fees and any other item of personal nature.
    3. All optional tours as mentioned in the itinerary,
    4. Pre and post tour accommodation.
    5. Extensions, excursions not mentioned in or with the five night itinerary.
    6. International and domestic flights
    7. Any tax not included in the inclusions and insurance
  • Qs. How well connected is Leh to others parts of India?
    Ans. The city of Leh is best connected to Delhi in North India by air. Daily flights operate Delhi-Leh-Delhi. During high season i.e June to August, limited flights operate from Srinagar and Jammu. Access to Leh from South, East and West India is through Delhi. Besides air connectivity, Leh is connected by surface from Srinagar and from Manali once the passes open which is May onwards.
  • Qs. Do your prices include flights?
    Ans. No, all domestic and international flights are excluded.
  • Qs. Do you provide any kind of insurance facility for guests?
    Ans. Personal travel insurance – We strongly recommend that you have adequate travel insurance cover from your country of domicile for injury, illness, death, accident, adventure tours and activities, loss of effects or luggage and holiday cancellation. Kindly refer to the cancelation policy stated in our Booking Terms and Conditions.

    Insurance for the Chamba Camp, Thiksey – The Camp is comprehensively insured for fire, earthquake, theft and terrorism.
  • Qs. What is the dress code at the camp and what will I need for the activities and excursions?
    Ans. The dress code will vary slightly based upon the location of the camp. For Ladakh, during the day, in June, August and September, guests will require full-sleeve cotton or denim shirts / blouses, carry a light jumper / fleece shawl for the evening and comfortable walking shoes. Layers work well.

    The month of July is usually warmer and half sleeves shirts and shorts can be worn during the day.
